About me

Renee GurleyI was born and raised in the SF Bay Area, where I still live. I studied Art History at college, and since that is such an in-demand skill, I ended up working diverse jobs such as baker, barista, programmer, notary public, book seller, legal admin...just to name more than a few.

I decided that I wanted to do creative work so I set about learning graphic design. Since then I've worked for banks, tech companies, educational institutions, and of course a lot of freelance work for small businesses and individuals.

I've been a freelance designer/SAHM for years, but during the pandemic I thought a lot about what I wanted to do next in my career. I taught homeschool to my daughter for about three years, and volunteer taught in middle-school. I really loved the process of creating lesson plans and designing class materials. But how do you make a career out of that? Well, I learned that you can by learning Instructional Design.

While taking instructional design classes, I also discovered I really love User Experience Design. I've done User Interface Design in the past, but planning and structuring the whole user flow for apps and websites is so challenging and fun.
